1992 Alcazar Garden Tile Inventory and Survey
Table of Contents
The Urban Corps of San Diego undertook a detailed survey of the Alcazar Garden's tile fountains and benches in 1992, with the cooperation of the City of San Diego Park and Recreation Department. The purpose of this pilot project was to demonstrate and test the feasibility of the Urban Corps Historic Preservation Program's management of an auxiliary work force and community volunteers in service to Balboa Park. They documented the history of the garden, the fountains, the tile condition, and prior restorations using photographs, original plans, sketches and rubbings.
